In late November, filmmakers and film buffs will head to Todos Santos in Baja California Sur. The festival celebrates excellence in Latin American and Mexican films. Broaden your horizons and discover the magic of the Todos Santos Film Festival.
The Start of a Film Festival
Sylvia Perel founded the Leonardo Perel Film School, which fosters a love of creativity, education, and movies for all ages. She is known for teaching children about the film industry, involving them in the production process, and teaching them all aspects of video production. In 2004, she kicked off the first Todos Santos Film Festival (Festival de Cine de Todos Santos) to recognize Mexican and Latin American filmmakers. This year, the festival celebrates its 20th year.
Todos Santos Film Festival 2024
This year’s film festival will be held from November 29th through December 1st, 2024, at the culturally iconic Teatro-Cine Manuel Marquez de Leon. The highlight of the film festival is the amazing films by Latin American and Mexican filmmakers depicting Latin culture.
The festival’s goal is to acknowledge brilliance in the film industry, women of the film industry, and their work, encourage and promote youth in filmmaking, and discover new film talent and local cinema makers.
Activities of the Todos Santos Film Festival
The Todos Santos Film Festival lasts three days, premiering documentaries, fiction films, and short films. Movie buffs, industry leaders, and film creators will have a chance to discuss films and documentaries. There will be workshops for cinema makers and cinema-goers to bond over a shared passion for films. The festival is a great way to immerse yourself in Latin culture while enjoying the new films!
It’s Not Too Late to Participate as a Filmmaker in the Todos Santos Film Festival
If you have not already submitted a film entry to the Todos Santos Film Festival, it is not too late! Similar festivals are held on these dates in La Paz and Cabo San Lucas, BCS, to ensure as many participants as possible can enter and experience this wonderful event.
The festival has received Golden Globe awards for its continued community commitment and spectacular programming.
This year’s official winner will receive the Cactus de Todos Santos sculpture created by a local artisan. They are also adding two new categories: Mexican Short Film and Made in BCS. The category winners will receive an all-inclusive travel/lodging package in Todos Santos, a diploma, and the iconic cactus sculpture!
Cineminuto (Short film) winners will receive a first-rate camera of the festival’s choice.
It Takes a Village of Sponsors
The Todos Santos Film Festival couldn’t continue supporting filmmakers and their craft without the support of the city’s businesses. A key sponsor, Guaycura Boutique Hotel Beach Club & Spa has been a supporting member since day one of the Todos Santos Film Festival. Their sponsorship allows them to support the culture and art of the Todos Santos community!
