Baja California Sur is surrounded by desert and clear azure water. Its magnificent panoramic views attract tourists and locals who enjoy the beaches and desert. Outside of Todos Santos lies Punta Lobos, steeped in culture and nature.
Just a stone’s throw from Todos Santos (a twenty-minute drive) is a piece of heaven carved into the cliffs of Punta Lobos. As the sun heats your skin and the wind blows your hair, you’ll want to drop your towels and blanket on the white sand to cool, azure water!
Punta Lobos’s Rich Fishing Culture
Local fishermen have been using Punta Lobos for decades to catch fish for the local restaurants and markets. You can see them leaving gifts at a small chapel for the saints as they pray for a safe trip and bountiful haul.
Down on the beach, you can watch them launch their pangas early in the morning and late in the afternoon when they return.
Sun and Swim
Punta Lobos Beach, Baja California Sur, tourists, and locals all year round. Surrounded by the mountain landscape, you can take in the coastline while waiting for the right wave. Surfers and surf lessons are a common sight at Punta Lobos.
Bring a kayak or take a kayaking expedition and enjoy the beach further from the shoreline. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for sea lions, dolphins, manta rays, and whales who frequent the waters daily. Snorkeling is popular at Punta Lobos BCS, but access is limited to specific areas.
Punta Lobos is the best place for a family day at the beach! Take in the sun’s rays as the kids build sandcastles and swim in the surf. Bring your dog and throw the frisbee as they frolic in the sea. Pets are allowed on the beach in off-leash areas. Pack a bag with towels, sunscreen, shorts, walking shoes, and a picnic lunch. You’re in for a day of adventure!
Walk the Punta Lobos Trail
If swimming is not for you, grab your hiking boots, water, and snacks and head to Punta Lobos Trail. It doesn’t matter if you are a seasoned hiker. The trail is perfect for anyone with two feet and their four-footed friends! Midway up the trail, the triangular view is spectacular with a view of the Pacific coastline and clear blue water.
The orange, tan, and brown of the rocky Baja desert coast and the picturesque Sierra de la Laguna mountains are the perfect backdrop. If you are an experienced hiker, you can hike the steep rocky trail to the historic port where trade ships sold their spices and other goods.
